April 18, 2005
- Washington, D.C. - Victim's Rights Caucus held a bi-partisan press conference on April 20, 2005 at 11 a.m. at the Cannon Terrace to request that Congressional appropriators reject the Office of Management and Budget (OMB)’s proposal to rescind VOCA funds.

 April 14, 2005 - Washington, D.C. - Congressman Poe addressed the house on the importance of the Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) Fund. The VOCA fund is generated from fees and fines paid by criminals, and is used to support victim's services across the United States.

 2005 ISSUES*


HR 4621 - No Parole for Sex Offenders Act - Congressman Poe has joined Congressman Mark Kennedy and Congressman Ben Chandler in cosponsering HR 4621; the legislation would require states to eliminate parole for sexual offenders.

HR 3132 - Child Safety Act - Passed the House of Representatives 370-52 - As introduced by Chairman Sensenbrenner of the House Judiciary Committee.

Department of Justice Authorization - The Judiciary Committee has dropped the Justice Authorization bill. Part of this act will be the reauthorization of the "Violence Against Women Act" (VAWA) and "Victims of Crime Act" (VOCA).

HR 1602 - DNA Backlog bill.

Sex Offender Bills - Child Predator Act (HR 1355), Jessica Lunsford Act (HR 1505), Stop the Violent Predators Against Children DNA Act (HR 244), Dru's Law (HR 95), National Center for Missing and Exploited Children Act (HR 2423)
