Domestic and Sexual Violence in the Military

The “Military Domestic and Sexual Violence Response Act.”

Rep. Louise Slaughter (D-NY)  introduced a bill that seeks to reduce sexual assault and domestic violence involving members of the armed forces and their family members and partners. This bill also establishes an office of Victims Advocate within the Department of Defense; creates comprehensive confidentiality protocols to protect rights of victims within military law; and codifies policies for preventing, responding, treating, prosecuting cases of family violence, domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking in military and among military families. Caucus Co-Chair Ted Poe is an original cosponsor of this bill.
