HR 3990
The “Military Domestic and Sexual Violence Response Act.”
Rep. Louise Slaughter (D-NY) introduced a bill that
seeks to reduce sexual assault and domestic violence
involving members of the armed forces and their family members and
partners. This bill also establishes an office of Victims Advocate
within the Department of Defense; creates
comprehensive confidentiality protocols to protect rights of victims
within
military law; and codifies policies for preventing, responding,
treating,
prosecuting cases of family violence, domestic violence, sexual
assault, and
stalking in military and among military families. Caucus Co-Chair Ted Poe
is an original cosponsor of this bill.
